Buddhist Chung Wah Kornhill Primary School
School-based Curriculum Framework
Guided by our school motto, "To Nourish Wisdom and Manifest Compassion," we are dedicated to promote holistic education. We have developed a school-based curriculum framework that integrates humanistic literacy, scientific inquiry, and positive values, aiming to equip students to meet future challenges.
- Deepening and Bridging Core Subjects
Our Chinese Language curriculum emphasizes school-based characteristics through the "School-based Picture Book Reading Teaching" and "Writing Curriculum".
Classical Chinese teaching is introduced in upper primary levels to optimize the transition between primary and secondary education.
The English Language department has implemented the "Space Town" program and "Reading Across the Curriculum (RaC)".
By leveraging the resources of Native-speaking English Teachers (NETs), we create a diverse linguistic environment for our students.
In Mathematics, we cultivate students' abilities in independent inquiry and logical thinking through our "School-based Number Sense Curriculum" and e-learning initiatives.
- Responding to Modern Developments and Technology Education
The school actively implements the latest Education Bureau curricula, introducing Humanities and Science at the primary level.
Regarding science and technology education, we have fully launched a STEAM curriculum, which includes school-based robotics courses (P.4–P.6).
Students engage with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and programming through tools like Micro:bit to strengthen their spirit of scientific inquiry.
- Values Education and Mind-Body Growth
Centered on "Buddhist Moral and Values Education," our curriculum integrates the school-based moral theme: "Be Grateful, Treasure What You Have, Be Proactive and Optimistic".
We help students establish a correct outlook on life through Mindfulness classes, Zen meditation, and the "Compassion-based Life Education Program".
To address students' emotional and developmental needs, we also implement the "Understanding Adolescent Project", the "Metamorphosis of Butterflies" life education program, and Career Planning courses.
- Potential Development and Life-wide Learning
The school promotes "One Life, Multiple Sports and Arts" and Gifted Education.
We offer a wide array of activities, including Multiple Intelligence interest classes, Olympiad Mathematics, Dragon and Lion Dance teams, and various Jockey Club sports programs.
Through interdisciplinary project-based learning and rich extracurricular activities, students are encouraged to demonstrate their unique potential.
